Two days ago we learned that Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard. It’s not a surprise that this company sold to anyone considering the scandals and controversy they’ve plagued themselves with. However it is a bit of a surprise that Microsoft made steps to buy Activision Blizzard. Especially so soon after acquiring Bethesda.
This puts Microsoft at an advantage over their main competitor, Sony. They could potentially cut Sony out of new releases for one of the most popular shooter games, “Call Of Duty.” Making it an Xbox exclusive. Microsoft stated that they don’t want to move everyone to one platform. I don’t see them making Activision Blizzard games exclusive to XBOX. However, it’s definitely a possibility.
All of these things and more give Microsoft the upper hand, and boy does it show. Just two days after the announcement Sony’s stock dropped 12%. In the land of stocks that’s a big deal! When a company drops that much that fast, it’s time to worry
Microsoft may be losing the console war, however with their new acquisitions, they could very well force many that have been loyal to Sony/PlayStation to switch to PC/XBOX
